Le Stelle: Benini Studio and Sculpture Ranch

Open Friday through Sunday 10 to 6 the first full weekend of each month.

We still accept school and art tours. We do live and work on the ranch so we can often accommodate  other days.

From his first one-man show in Milan in 1962, Benini’s exhibition career encompasses 160 one-man exhibitions internationally. In 1999, Benini relocated to the Texas Hill Country and established The Benini Galleries and Sculpture Ranch now open  to visitors and student tours. A 14,000 sq. ft. building hosts a permanent retrospective exhibition of Benini's paintings, a guest-artists gallery, as well as offices, studios, and a fine arts library. Large-scale sculptures of national and international artists are being installed on the surrounding 140 acres, with 115 pieces now installed by artists from around the country and abroad..

Located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country:

  • From Austin, one hour’s drive west.

  • From San Antonio, one hours drive northwest

  • From Johnson City, seven miles

Map and Directions

From Johnson City: From the blinking light in Johnson City, continue 1.2 miles west on Highway 290. Turn left on Country Road 204 (Flat Creek Road). Continue 5.2 miles to Shiloh Road. Turn right onto Shiloh Road. Come over the cattle guard, and turn sharp left. Click here for printable version.

From Fredericksburg: Proceed on 290 towards Johnson City. Pass the LBJ State Park and continue on Route 290 through Hye.  Click here for printable version.

After Hye, continue 1.8 miles to Rocky Road. You will see a green sign before the turn on the curve indicating Country Road 205 to the right. That is also Rocky Road. After turning right here, you will continue to bear right at the little Rocky Community Church.

Stay on Rocky Road for 2.8 miles. Your next turn is a bit hidden, so watch the mileage and turn left onto Flat Creek Road.

Continue on Flat Creek Road for 2.7 miles to Shiloh Road. (Mailboxes on the right).

Turn left on Shiloh Road.

On Shiloh, looking 10:00 up on the mountain, you will see our house.

Continue Shiloh, over the cattle guard, and turn sharp left, following the fence. This brings you down a road, continue through the gate with the gold stars and straight to the stone Studios Building.

Be aware on Flat Creek, it is open range so you may encounter animals.

Respect for the Artworks:
Photography is permitted, however we ask that you not touch, lean on, sit on or climb on any of the artwork on display. If you shoot some
photographs on the ranch you consider noteworthy, forward them to us with your
photo credit. We are building a section on the Sculpture Ranch website - - just for this. The diversity of images shot through the seasons by different photographers, amateur and professional is amazing.
